![]() ![]() How to decode a screenshot of Superhot is as follows: This allows for situations to be read at a moments notice and whilst it might look visually bland at face value, this is integral to the experience. Everything is coloured in one of three colours. In any other game, a system which requires the throwing of multiple items, enemies pouring in from all sides would be a visual and audio nightmare to decode, Superhot does not have this problem. When a section goes by as smooth as butter, to see your graceful killing spree over the span of a few seconds, yeah, you feel like Jo-, you feel like Jason Bourne. Best of all though, after each level, your actions are replayed in real-time, similar to Super Meat Boy I guess, this leads to your self-admiration of “yeah, I am a badass”. ![]() It is the kind of gameplay which suits me down to the ground, lacking the twitch reflexes necessary to pull something this ludicrous off in something like Call of Duty. A simple elevator pitch, right? This means that firefights can be much more tactical as you weave around incoming bullets, fire one back, throw your gun at another foe, pick up a plant pot and smash it over some else’s head – all of this in a moment of real time gameplay stretched out over 10 to 15 seconds. Superhot is a monochrome FPS, whereby the gimmick is that time moves only when you move. As much as I adore those movies, I ain’t no sheep, so I will try my best to complete this entire review without referencing Keanu Reeves. Whenever I describe this game to friends, and throughout many reviews that I have seen online, they all refer to John Wick. ![]() While the developers try to stop you from becoming one, but it's no use.I am also going to challenge myself. Basically SUPERHOT is a virus that tries to get your mind and become the AI. You become an AI and are told to lure in others. After doing this, you shoot your physical body, and become "one of us now". The next few levels you repeat after the text "Mind is software", "Bodies are disposable" "The system will set you free" and then "I will Hotswitch in to the core".įinally, you have to survive waves of enemies and Hotswitch repeatedly into a red pyramid which starts to download your mind. You do not fully enter the game, and have to walk backwards into a jail cell with a grey pyramid in the distance. Your last messages are "I just want to get back in the game". You talk with your friend one last time, but all your text is changed to say "SUPER HOT". You, after playing more levels, exit the game. You unlock a function called Hotswitch, where you can become one of the enemies. The game tells you it could keep you there forever. You can also not log out by pressing Esc. The game then shows you what is (presumably) cameras showing yourself in a VR helmet. When you login, you are in a jail cell, and cannot escape. The red text denies you access, and you are forced to quit the actual game to play again. The red text forces you to promise that you will not play any more Superhot. You then have a conversation with the red text, and you cannot skip the conversation by pressing Esc. You initially attempt to tell your friend about your experiences, but the message changes to tell your friend that you will not give them the password, that they are playing too much. ![]() You speak with your friend, but as soon as you press Enter the text flashes red, and is changed. You enter the game, play 5 levels, then red text informs you that you are an intruder. You can open them by simply tapping your keys and pressing enter. They send you a file with password-protected levels. You can skip all conversations by pressing Esc.Īfter another 5 levels, you are kicked out again, and you talk with your friend. Your friend sends you another copy of Superhot, and tells you that it was the game's security which blocked you. You are ejected from the game after 5 levels, however, and the game fades into black and white pixels. SuperHOT is introduced to you by a friend, who says "this is the most innovative shooter I've played for years". This page contains details about secrets or plot elements. ![]()
